Ed Harshany currently serves as the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Tactical Air Support, starting in 2023 to pioneer the Innovation Center.
Prior to Tactical Air, Ed served 20 years as an Aviator in the US Navy. He served three tours in a forward-deployed F/A-18 squadron, is a US Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) graduate, was an instructor pilot at TOPGUN, and had various additional assignments before retiring from the Navy.
Ed has flown over 2,500 hours and logged over 500 carrier landings in the F/A-18. After leaving military service, Ed served 10 years as a scientist in the US Air Force Civilian Service Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation community. During his time with the US Air Force, his roles included Computer Scientist, Test Engineer, Test Facility Director, Chief Data Scientist, and Lead Scientist.
Ed earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computing from the Naval Postgraduate School and the University of South Alabama, respectively. He is an adjunct professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of South Alabama, a member of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) member, Upsilon Pi Epsilon, Honor Society for the Computing and Information Disciplines member, and an active reviewer for academic journals, conferences, and workshops.
